REMBRANDT VAN RIJN was a Dutch, Leiden 1606–1669 Amsterdam), Baroque draftsman, painter, print-maker, avid art collector and dealer of the Dutch Golden Age and was considered to be one of the greatest Dutch artists in Europe with a style rich with high contrasts and intricate details. The body of his work consisted of portraits, self-portraits, landscapes, genre scenes, allegorical and historical scenes, biblical and mythological themes as well as animal studies.

ART HISTORY & APPLIED ARTS INSTRUCTION*

We begin with a brief presentation titled "Exhibition on Screen" and BBC's series "The Power of Art: Rembrandt" narrated by popular historian, Simon Schama, University Professor of History and Art History at Columbia University, New York, New York, USA. Following are critiques by Dr Beth Harris and Dr. Steven Zucker of the oil paintings, "The Night Watch (Militia Company of District II under the Command of Captain Frans Banninck Cocq), 1642, at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, "The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp, 1632, at the Mauritshuis, Den Haag and Rembrandt's "Self-Portrait",1659, at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.
